Uxbridge

Uxbridge is a town situated in West London and is the administrative headquarters of the London Borough of Hillingdon. It has formed part of Greater London since 1965. It is a significant retail and commercial centre and is the location of Brunel University and the Uxbridge campus of Buckinghamshire New University.

Nightlife

There’s lots of nightlife and things to do in the area. We would recommend Liquid and Envy. The club is a lively place to have a drink with friends.

Uxbridge has it all covered when it comes to choice of food and drink whether it be Italian, Indian, Mexican or a simple coffee and cake at the Wonky Teapot on Windsor Street. With new places opening on a regular basis, there is always somewhere to explore.

Intu Uxbridge and The Pavilions both have lots of places to eat and shop. Intu regularly hosts events for students, so look out for discounts.

IMAX cinema shows the latest blockbusters. Wembley Stadium is only half an hour away hosting sporting events and live music.

Beck Theatre in Hayes hosts a wide variety of live events, musicals, comedy shows and more.

Ascot is just over half an hour by car. Dress up and head to the races!

Countryside

One huge advantage of living in the Hillingdon Borough is that you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and escape to the country. Colne Valley Park has something for everyone – sail on the lakes, watch wildlife, go fishing and more.

Get Outside!

Grand Union Canal is a great place for a leisurely stroll. Walk or cycle the towpath all the way to Camden Lock!

Transport

 

Just off the M40 and close to Heathrow Airport, Uxbridge is served by underground (Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines) and rail links (West Drayton and West Ruislip stations), and has an excellent local bus services.

Brunel University

The campus is a pleasant 15 minute walk from Uxbridge town centre.

From Uxbridge tube station, skirt around the Old Market past HSBC Bank into Windsor Street. At the bottom of Windsor Street, turn left and cross the dual carriageway via the light-controlled crossing. Bear left and then walk straight on, avoiding the subway, into Whitehall Road. Walk along Whitehall Road and over the crossroads into Cleveland Road.

Many areas on campus are connected to the central concourse which runs right through the University. The footpaths are generally well lit and are mostly overlooked by CCTV.

Staff and students are advised to refer to gate signage for opening and closing times at entrance and exit points around campus.

Alternatively Brunel University has secure cycle storage if you’re the ‘cycling kind’.

Buckingham New University

The campus on Oxford Road in Uxbridge town centre is a short walk from the tube and bus station.

From Uxbridge tube station exit via the main entrance and turn right onto the High Street.

From the bus station, walk down Park Road, turn left at Baker’s Yard and walk towards the High Street where you will need to turn right. Continue along the High Street, passing The Pavilions Shopping Centre and Tesco on your left. Cross the junction (RUSH Fitness Club is on your left) and continue ahead with Javitri World Cuisine on your right. Campus is the brick building on your right.
